TO GET INTO TROUBLE THAT IS!
About a week ago, we put the kids to bed and Mckelle was doing her usual and just playing with the book we gave her and laying in bed. After awhile she became unusually quiet, but wasn't screaming so we didn't think to check on her. About an hour and a half later we could still hear her supposedly "trying to go to sleep" when she began to fuss. Brett being the great husband he is, went to go check on her. The next thing I hear is..."Jamee, you have got to see this" with him laughing after. I was pretty positive that I didn't want to see what she had done. Well...being the climber that she is, she climbed up on Jace's bed and proceeded to take the jar of VASELINE, yes, Vaseline back to her bed where she smothered herself, her blanket, her pillow pet, and the wall with Vaseline. At some point she must have thought she needed to clean up because she had also emptied a full container of wipes (which I had just filled up that day). Many of the wipes were covered with Vaseline, but the majority were salvageable. Luckily she didn't get any Vaseline on the carpet or her new sheets that we had just put on that day. New sheets because we bought a twin bed for her, no more baby crib for her. After cleaning up as much as we could that night...mind you it is 11:30 by this time, we put her in a bath and googled how to get Vaseline out of hair. We started with Dawn dish soap...no luck. Some said after the third wash was the charm...still no luck. I am pretty sure all those that googled this didn't have a LARGE jar full in the hair they were trying to get it out of. We finally put her to bed and she fell right asleep...imagine that! In the morning she looked like this:
How was I supposed to do her hair for church when it looks like this! Well before doing her hair, I tried using mayonnaise...no luck, peanut butter...no luck, and glycerin soap bar...no luck! By this time, we had to go to church. I just put a hat on her and made her wear it the whole time. Nobody had any idea. While at church I cornered a friend who is a beautician and told her our fate. She suggested using cornstarch and then a clarifying shampoo. So...we did!
Doesn't she look like she is having so much fun! A week later, and I am finally thinking it is somewhat funny! I had read stories on the internet how they just had to cut the hair...thank goodness the cornstarch and clarifying shampoo worked.
She is just INQUISITIVE...I really don't think she wants to get into trouble! But at least she had fun!
