Some thoughts about the purchase of our first home

Back in December, on the 21st, Brett and I signed papers on a house and officially became homeowners.  It was exciting and we anticipated making all the changes we had talked about.  As we started on all of the changes...painting everything, removing wall paper borders, Kilzing the floors after we pulled up ALL of the carpet (due to the cats and dogs that the previous owner had), picking out new carpet and wood (vinyl) floors, cleaning vents and bleaching out the garage...we realized it might take a little longer than we actually had planned.  Brett pulled late nights (like 2 and 3 in the morning almost every night) while I would work throughout the days, if not working at my own job, in addition to keeping the chaos between each home to a minimum.  We had days when we never thought it would end, but hoped that it soon would.  Now that we are done (besides the little projects here and there) and are moved in, we couldn't be HAPPIER to be home owners.  It feels brand new with all that we did.

We had several helpers along the way and a few angels that literally saved us.   Also, so many tender mercies, especially financially, reminded us that this is where we are supposed to be.  I often mentioned to Brett that I would rather go on TREK than renovate a house while pregnant again.  It was gruesome and exhausting.  It took so much physically and emotionally.  It was all I could do to endure on most of the days. Maybe next time we can buy new....if there ever is a next time...I am pretty happy with where we are at and the space we have.

I hope to post before and after pics soon...but not promising anything...I am 31 weeks pregnant and very exhausted all the time.
